Man charged following serious assault in Fort Good Hope

A 48-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including three counts of assault with a weapon, after police say two people were seriously injured in Fort Good Hope over the weekend.

Just before midnight on Saturday, Sept. 15, Fort Good Hope RCMP received multiple reports that an assault had taken place outside a residence in the community, stated a news release Monday.

A man and a woman, both seriously injured, were found outside of the home by police. They were medevaced to Yellowknife before being transported to an Edmonton hospital.

A subsequent investigation, police say, revealed two Ski-Doos had been set on fire. Two axes were also located in a yard next to the residence, according to the RCMP news release.

Christopher Shae faces the following charges:

  • 3 counts, Assault with Weapon
  • 2 counts, Aggravated Assault
  • 1 count, Carry Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • 1 count, Fail to Comply with Probation

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
