Updated: NWT Coroner identifies man killed in apparent workplace incident

The sudden death of a 35-year-old man in Inuvik has prompted a police investigation.

After responding to a call for service just after 1 p.m. on Saturday, Inuvik RCMP, along with Inuvik Emergency Medical Services and Fire Department, located the deceased man on the "premises of a business/work site," stated a news release Monday.

RCMP are investigating alongside the NWT Coroner Service and the Worker's Safety & Compensation Commission.

Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

UPDATED

The deceased man has been identified as 35-year-old Eric Grant, of Whitehorse, by NWT's chief coroner Cathy Menard.

Grant's body has been sent to Edmonton for a post mortem examination, stated Menard in an email Tuesday.
