Fort Good Hope man arrested after cocaine found in box of Timbits

A Fort Good Hope man has been arrested after RCMP say they found more than just donuts inside a box of Tim Horton's Timbits.

On Nov. 13, after receiving a report of a person potentially "shipping" a controlled substance on a  flight from Yellowknife to Fort Good Hope, Mounties launched an investigation.

Police say they intercepted the package - a box of timbits - while conducting the investigation. Inside, officers found what they believed to be cocaine.

According to RCMP, the man was arrested "for possession of a controlled substance." Police haven't said if the man has been charged at this time.

"An investigation is ongoing and the identity of the male cannot be released at this time," stated an RCMP spokesperson.

"RCMP would like to take this opportunity to remind people to be vigilant when taking packages for other people, even people you may know, as you are responsible for everything in your possession when travelling.

If you do agree to take a parcel for someone to be sure to check that it is what you were told it was as you could be charged for anything illegal that might be hidden inside" , state RCMP in an news release issued Thursday.

RCMP have not yet said where and under what circumstances the Timbit interception occurred.

Anyone with information about the incident or investigation is asked to contact Fort Good Hope at 867-598-1111.
