Science, knowledge projects funded

Six projects run by five NWT organizations are among 41 Northern-themed projects across Canada that were funded for the 2017-2019 period by the federal government at the end of last year.

Aurora College will get close to $450,000 over two years to create a long-term sustainability plan for country food systems, as well as education and outreach to develop science, technology, engineering and mathematics projects for youth in the Beaufort Delta. Gameti and Deline will each get $80,000 over two years to create their diesel-use reduction strategies.

The Gwich’in Tribal Council will get just over $150,000 for upgrades and training for its multi-use on-the-land centre. The Wek’eezhii Renewable Resources Board will get $74,790 for the Tlicho Aquatic Ecosystem Monitoring Program.
