The Tłı̨chǫ Winter Road to Gamètì opened this afternoon at 3 p.m.
The Tlicho government posted to its Facebook page that the road is open to vehicles with a maximum 15,000 kilogram Gross Vehicle Weight.
Some safety tips from the Tlicho government:
- Please watch for rough areas on portages and lakes; slow down when meeting oncoming traffic;
- Watch for soft areas along edges on portages;
- Watch and slow down for construction and maintenance equipment working along all sections of the winter road;
- Please note the maximum speed limit throughout the Tłı̨chǫ Winter Road system is 50 Km/h;
The Whatì Winter Road is now open to vehicles with a maximum 25,000 kg Gross Vehicle Weight.
The Wekweètì Winter Road is currently under construction. Please use caution on all NWT Winter Roads.
