The Town of Inuvik made a post earlier this week on its Facebook page backing up the Inuvik Fire Department.
"As a result of recent public statements the Town of Inuvik would like to assure residents that the Town of Inuvik Fire Department is fully functional and capable of handling any emergency situation should the need arise within the community," stated the post.
The fire department faced some online criticism for seemingly failing to put out a house fire that reignited after crews left, destroying an Arctic Road home in late October. It wasn't clear the town's Facebook post was referencing that incident. Senior administrative officer Grant Hood had not responded to an inquiry by press time.
