Whati RCMP make 'significant' pair of alcohol seizures

In a span of 48 hours, three people were arrested in two separate incidents involving illegal alcohol in Whati.

On Sunday, Whati RCMP arrested "two individuals" after seizing a large quantity of liquor, according to a news release.

Police seized 32 375 ml bottles of liquor and seven cans of beer.

On Monday, police say "another individual" was arrested after trying to bring nine 375 ml bottles of liquor, along with another two q.75 L bottles into the community.

RCMP have not named the three individuals arrested, and haven't said whether or not they face charges.

Police are calling the pair of liquor seizures "significant for the community," taking "time of year" into account.

"(The seizure) aids the police in trying to curb substance abuse which continues to be a top priority for the Whati RCMP. The Whati detachment in partnership with community partners continue to work together to combat these illegal sales of alcohol in an effort to reduce the harmful effects it causes," states the RCMP news release.
