Woman in custody following Fort Liard homicide

A 21-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder following a homicide in Fort Liard over the weekend, say RCMP.

In the early hours Sunday, Mounties were called to a Birch Road residence in the community where they located a deceased 34-year-old male, states a news release.

Members of the NWT RCMP Major Crimes Unit and the Forensic Identification Services have travelled to Fort Liard and are investigating the death as a homicide, states a news release from Mounties Monday

The NWT Coroner's Office is also probing the death.

The 21-year-old suspect is due to appear in territorial court on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

RCMP have not released the name of the suspect, citing a publication ban.
