September 4, 1963 - September 18, 2023

Clayton John Ravndal was born in Yellowknife on September 4, 1963. He lived his entire life in Yellowknife, and passed away on September 18, 2023 after a brief and courageous battle with melanoma. After obtaining his high school diploma from École Sir John Franklin High School, Clayton attended Mount Royal University in Calgary where he studied sport and recreation.

Over Clayton's 25-year career with the GNWT, he worked in several

departments covering many diverse roles. At the time of his death, he held the position of Finance Officer in the Department of Health & Social Services.

Clay's life always revolved around sports. From hockey as a young boy to

ball to curling to golf, he loved to compete and to be active. One of his most notable accomplishments was as a member of the 1981 Canadian Junior Curling Championship silver medalist rink. Clay was an enthusiastic member of the Yellowknife Racquet Club and spent many days a week working out and enjoying the company of his good friends. During the summer, Clay would switch focus so that he could work on his game, with his Golf Club family. For several decades, Clay found peace

and companionship as a member of the Yellowknife Church of Christ.

Clayton is lovingly remembered by his sister Cheryl Menard (Michael) and his nieces, Kaitlyn, Cassidy and Riley; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada and Norway, and so many beloved friends. Clayton was predeceased by his father, John. His mother, Grace, passed away at the age of 96 only weeks after Clay's death.

Clayton's family would like to thank the healthcare staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, for their compassion and kindness.

A funeral service was held for Clayton on September 29, 2023 at the Yellowknife Church of Christ, followed by a reception at the Yellowknife Racquet Club. Clayton was interred at the Lakeview Cemetery on September 30, 2023.
