Sports Check: Deh Gah students headed to Table Tennis championships

Deh Gah Elementary and Secondary School students were in Yellowknife this past weekend for the table tennis territorial school championship.

The Fort Providence students took on students Weledeh, St Pat's and William Mac. The weekend had both a singles and a doubles tournament as well as a workshop with Table Tennis North.

Arctic showcase highlights top northern hockey players

The top Northern hockey players battled it out for hockey supremacy across two divisions this past  weekend at the 2018 Arctic Showcase in Yellowknife.
In the bantam division, the Canada Winter Games Women took on the NWT bantam team, the Yellowknife Sporting Club and the CR Oilers.
In the Canada Winter Games Division, Team NT and Team Nunavut were joined by Shawnigan Lake Prep School of B.C. for a number of showcase matches.
The games ran Friday evening at the Multiplex and wrapped up Sunday evening.

Fort Providence gets lacrosse lessons

The Aboriginal Sports Circle (NWT) were in Fort Providence last week for a lacrosse camp.
The camp was facilitated by Kyle Aviak and ran over the course of two days. Students from Deh Gah school were taught the basics as well as how to take a number of trick shots.
The Aboriginal Sports Circle routinely holds archery, lacrosse and traditional games camps in all of the communities in the NWT. Any interested schools or community groups can reach out to the games to organize a camp.
