AVENS: A Community for Seniors is looking for continued community support in its fundraising effort to replace its 22-year-old senior’s shuttle bus.

Launched on Sept. 8, the senior’s housing complex is aiming to raise $125,00 over the next five months with a campaign called Care on Wheels. Replacing the shuttle bus will allow for senior citizens to be more easily transported around the city so to combat social isolation and improve accessibility, states a Sept. 29 news release.

AVENS announced that the Eggenberger family recently donated $25,000 and it is hoped others will follow the example.

People interested in donating money to the Operation Care on Wheels campaign can visit the AVENS website and click the “donate now” button.
