A deceased person located in a wooded area of the city earlier this week has been identified as 34-year-old Tyler Mitchell, of Yellowknife, says the NWT Coroner Service.

Police located Mitchell’s body in a wooded bush off Taylor Road around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday.

A city resident walked to the Yellowknife RCMP detachment, informing Mounties they had seen a body some 200 metres in the bush off Taylor Road.

Yellowknife RCMP said Wednesday there is no evidence of foul play.

Chief coroner Cathy Menard reiterated police statements Thursday, saying there’s nothing to suggest the death is suspicious in nature.

A post mortem examination has been ordered. The coroner’s office, along with RCMP, continue to probe the death.
