Dramatic rescue on Prosperous Lake

There was a dramatic rescue on Prosperous Lake off the Ingraham Trail after a pickup truck with three people inside plunged through the ice Saturday afternoon.

According to a news release from RCMP, Mounties as well as fire rescue crews and paramedics responded about 4:30 in the afternoon. They reached the passengers by snowmobile, who were able to get out of the truck and onto its roof on their own.

The victims are a mother, father and five-year-old child. They were taken to Stanton Territorial Hospital for treatment of what is believed to have been mild hypothermia. Their names have not been released. Police remind motorists to be careful when driving on ice.
