Ecology North is postponing planned Earth Day events this weekend out of concern for public safety amid the risk from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The environmental organization issued a news release Friday and posted on its Facebook
page that the scheduled Baby Stuff Swap, Outdoor Coffee House, and the Walk for Climate over the April 24-25 weekend will take place at a later date.

“All (this weekend’s) events follow current public health guidelines, however, given recent
COVID19 cases in Yellowknife, ongoing contact tracing and our concern for risks associated with bringing people together at this time, we are not hosting anything this weekend,”
states the release.

People can still participate in Earth Week’s three-week
long contests and are encouraged to hold onto Earth Week passports until the events are
rescheduled.
