Residents will get the chance to get a closer look at the inner workings of the City of Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) during its annual open house Saturday.

Yellowknifers of all ages are invited to take part in a host of fun-filled activities at the fire hall, located on 100 Taylor Road, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

A tour of the fire hall and trucks, along with fire extinguisher training and kitchen appliance safety demonstrations, will be offered to guests – and there will be a dunk tank.

Two demo rooms will be set on fire as part of a planned sprinkler demonstration.

Weather permitting, an outdoor mini-challenge will be hosted for kids. Door prizes, balloon art and free refreshments will also be up for grabs.
