Monday night, six federal party leaders debated a wide range of topics important to Canadians ahead of the Oct. 21 election.

With moderators taking questions from Canadians, one on cost of living was asked by Yellowknife resident Scott Morisson from the Copperhouse restaurant.

Green Part leader Elizabeth May gave a shout out to Yellowknife and Rylund Johnson during the Oct. 8 leaders debate.

Broadcasters also showed a live-feed from the establishment.

May, who's husband John Kidder is the sibling of late actress Margot Kidder from Yellowknife, visited earlier this year. The leader said "hello" to Yellowknife and mentioned she'd been to the Copperhouse before.

May also gave a shout out to MLA-elect for Yellowknife North, Rylund Johnson.

"Rylund, I see you, congratulations for being elected MLA, I'm just so excited," she said.

Johnson did not respond to a request for comment about the shout-out. Currently, the election results for that constituency are subject to a recount as Johnson leads his closest opponent, incumbent Cory Vanthuyne, by only five votes.

Johnson and Vanthuyne will know the results of the recount later this week.
