Katie Weaver, manager of public affairs and communications at the NWT Legislative Assembly, confirmed as much in a Tuesday email.

Tim Mercer

Two GNWT managers – chief electoral officer Nicole Latour and legislative assembly staffer April Taylor – said last week Mercer contributes to a toxic workplace at the legislative assembly.  Allegations have stemmed from various forms of harassment to bullying to berating and embarrassing staff.

Mercer, who learned of the accusations last Thursday, has denied the allegations “categorically.”

On Monday, Steve Norn, MLA for Tu Nedhé – Wiilideh held a news conference calling for the Legislative Assembly’s Board of Management to launch a third party investigation into Mercer’s conduct.

Weaver said the Board did not meet Tuesday.
