All the residents and pets of a home on Jeske Crescent near Borden Dr. escaped unharmed after a house fire last night about 10:30. According to a news release on the city's website, a new heater placed under the home to warm the water lines was the cause. Fire crews arrived at the home at 174 Jeske Crescent and saw dark smoke billowing out from under the skirting covering the home's crawl space, stated Iman Kessam, spokesperson for the city.

"The fire spread into the structure and out through the roof, Kessam stated in the news release. "Fire was contained to the structure and minimal damage was sustained to the travel trailer parked  a few feet beside it."

Five emergency personnel initially responded to the blaze but a full group alert was initiated calling in all off-duty staff and paid on-call firefighters.

Two fire engines, a rescue vehicle an ambulance and a command unit responded as crew battled the fire in -30 temperatures. There were no injuries reported to any of the first responders. Municipal Enforcement officers also responded to control traffic in the area. While firefighters battled the blaze, personnel responded to six medical calls and another fire alarm.
