According to an RCMP news release, a preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle left the roadway and went into the ditch. The male driver and sole occupant was transported by ambulance to Stanton Territorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The crash closed the road and motorists were asked to avoid the area. The road was wet but not slippery at the time. A worker from the Dept. of Infrastructure, which oversees transportation, was stopping vehicles coming off the Ingraham Trail from heading down the Dettah Rd. He said the crash happened about two kilometres down the road. He did not know which way the driver was headed. The Mounties are assisting the NWT Chief Coroner as the investigation continues. No name has been released.
