The mural dedicated to a former Yellowknife philanthropist will be hanging from the Somba K'e Dental Centre, Friday.
Yellowknife artist Terry Pamplin has created the piece to remember the contributions made by residential school survivor, Charlie Delorme.
Delorme – who died three years ago – was a survivor of residential schools. He received a $100,000 reparation from the federal government in 2013.
He is mostly remembered for donating the money to organizations across the city such as the Stanton Hospital Foundation and the SideDoor Youth Centre – among others. A generous decision to make for Delorme as he had spent close to 40 years on the street, said Pamplin.
Delorme was 64-years-old when he died in 2013.
A long-time friend of Delorme, Pamplin expects the finished product will hang on the Somba K'e Dental Clinic, this weekend.
