The GNWT has introduced the Service NWT COVID Support Line, the government said in a news release on Friday. 

Users in the NWT can dial 8-1-1 to receive information about the virus, help determine if they should contact a health centre to be tested for coronavirus, offer credible complaints about individuals not following public health orders and receive contact information on health care providers and other services. 

“Callers will be walked through the online NWT Covid-19 Self-Assessment tool to determine if they should visit a health care provider for further COVID-19 related assessment and testing,” the release said. 

But the 8-1-1 line is not intended as a health triage system, for seeking out clinical advice or for pharmaceutical information. 

NWT residents should contact their primary health care provider or health centre if they need clinical advice. 

“Government should be as accessible as possible – especially in crises like we face today. The Service NWT Covid Support Line will help unify our services under one portal, and get our residents the help they need throughout this pandemic,” said Diane Thom, Minister of Health and Social Services. 

The lines will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. The Protect NWT enforcement line is open 24 hours a day. Interpretation services are available for both lines. 

Credible reports of failure to follow health orders can also be emailed to protectnwt@gov.nt.ca.
