The city will install the public boat launch in Old Town Friday June 1, located at the intersection of Franklin Avenue, McDonald Drive and Weaver Drive.In addition, crews will remove the ice skirt under the McMeekan Causeway, put in place in the fall to promote ice formation and thereby providing safe passage for pedestrians and snow machines.

100 Men Yellowknife give to Girl Guides
Benevolent organization 100 Men Yellowknife pledged over $10,000 to the Yellowknife District Girl Guides at a meeting Thursday night.
The money will be used to help with renovations at their cabin at Prelude Lake, stated a tweet from the group.
The group meets for an hour and jointly select a local charity or not-for-profit organization.
Every man writes a $100 cheque to the selected organization and watch how the group's commitment turns into a $10,000-plus donation.
Previous recipients of 100 Men Yellowknife include: YK Cares, NWT Literacy Council, Food First Foundation, Yellowknife Women's Society.

City to explore future of visitor services
The city, along with money from the GNWT, has contracted the team of Deborah Kulchiski and Margaret McCormick to engage with Yellowknife tour operators, government and industry to complete a visitor services strategy.
After being forced to close due to building safety issues in 2017, the Northern Frontier Visitors Association moved into temporary quarters. After the group disbanded in late 2017, a visitor centre was set up in the main level of city hall.
Two open houses are scheduled for Tuesday, June 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. at the visitor centre. The city will also have a table at the Farmers Market that evening.
