NTPC president and CEO leaving for Manitoba

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) will be looking for a new president and CEO in the coming months as Jay Grewal heads south.

Grewal will become the new president and CEO of Manitoba Hydro as of February 4 2019, making her the first female president in the organization's history.

Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister announced yesterday she will succeed current president Kelvin Shepherd following his retirement.

Shepherd will remain as president and CEO until February 1, 2019 to facilitate an orderly transition.

“We could not be more excited to have her as part of our team,” Pallister stated in a news release.

Before joining NTPC, Grewal  held senior positions with Capstone Mining Corp, Accenture Inc., B.C. Hydro and CIBC World Markets.

"Ms. Grewal is a proven leader, with extensive senior leadership experience in the utility, resource and consulting sectors,” stated Manitoba  Crown Services Minister Colleen Mayer.
“She will join Manitoba Hydro from Northwest Territories Power Corporation, where she currently serves as president and chief executive officer.”

At NTPC Grewal was responsible for developing a 20-year Long Term Strategic Plan, which focuses on expanding its customer base through supporting resource development in the territory.
