NWT Park campground bookings hit a new early registration record – not including Fred Henne territorial park, stated a release on Tuesday.

During the first two days of booking campsites the government made a total of $174,750 in sales.

The GNWT Department of Industry Tourism and Investment tallied a Day 1 booking total of $101,900 coming from 710 reservations. This breaks last year's record of $87,000 in first day reservations.

Fred Henne Territorial Park saw a total of 655 bookings. Second to the popular attraction was Reid Lake Territorial Park which is guaranteed to see 278 visitors this year. Prelude Lake Territorial Park had 263 bookings and Fort Providence Territorial Park had 88.

The website release states 89 per cent of purchases came from Canadians. Over half are residents across the NWT.

NWT Parks revamped their website as bookings began. Included in the new site is new mobile-friendly feature that users were quick to take advantage of, stated the release.

60.5% of visitors to the website used desktop, while mobile phones scored 31.3% and tablets/iPad hit 8.2%

Industry Tourism and Investment communications manager Drew Williams said there are still spots available.
