UPDATE : One suspect in custody after stabbing in downtown Yellowknife

One man is in custody following a July 27 stabbing in downtown Yellowknife.

34-year-old Kurtis Thrasher is charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of failing to comply with an undertaking.

The stabbing happened between 49th street  and 50th avenue at approximately 8:06 p.m. said RCMP spokesperson Heather Cosenzo. The victim was taken to hospital with stab wounds to his head following the altercation.

Thrasher was arrested on Friday night shortly after the altercation, said Cosenzo.

Consenzo confirmed the victim is said to be a male in his 30's. The victim was flown to Edmonton and is receiving further treatment.

It is unknown if Thrasher and the victim were known to each other at the time of the incident.

Thrasher is expected in court on Tuesday.
