Yellowknife RCMP are partnering with a number of government agencies to "enhance visibility on the land and to engage with those taking part in winter activities," stated an RCMP release. With multiple patrols planned for this season, the project also seeks to encourage outdoor enthusiasts to dress according to the weather, as conditions can quickly change, posing risks for people out on the land.

"Patrolling around Yellowknife with our partners gives our fishery officers the chance to talk directly with the public and educate on the importance of sustainable use of our resources," Joe Justus of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, stated in the news release.

With an "abundance of winter sports and activities," RCMP Cst. Heather Cosenzo stated it's important to make sure residents are prepared for the elements.
