An “overdue” boater has been located and brought back to safety, according to a Tuesday Yellowknife RCMP news release.

The boater was reported overdue on Friday after he did not return as planned the night before.

He was believed to be at a cabin around Cabin Island near the East Arm of Great Slave Lake. The Yellowknife RCMP and the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) found the man at the cabin suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

The man was transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital to receive treatment.

“Yellowknife RCMP is pleased the boater made it back to safety and would like to thank CASARA for their assistance,” the release said.

Yellowknife RCMP are reminding the public to always carry a communications device when travelling. They advise to always leave a plan to a friend or family member, including time of departure, destination and time of arrival.
