After responding to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle in front of Coyote's Bistro Wednesday night, RCMP say the incident was actually caused by a slip and fall on Franklin Avenue.
"Yellowknife RCMP responded with Yellowknife MED to a possible pedestrian motor vehicle collision in that area but upon arriving it was determined that the pedestrian had actually slipped and fell on the ice and was not struck by any vehicles," an RCMP spokesperson told Yellowknifer.
Paramedics and RCMP rushed to the area just before 9 p.m. Wednesday. An individual, witnessed by a Yellowknifer reporter on the scene, was seen lying motionless in the middle of the road, which was blocked to traffic by several RCMP vehicles.
A yellow blanket was placed on the pedestrian as a bystander held the person's hand.
The extent of the pedestrian's injuries is not yet known at this time.
