Plans for revamped school unveiled

The Yellowknife District Education No. 1 school board is holding a meeting Thursday night to discussed options for plans to build a new J.H. Sissons School.

A news release from superintendent Metro Huculak stated the meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. and all parents and prospective parents are welcomed to attend.

Architects have partnered with the board to develop three different plans for building a new Sissons school along with pros and cons to coincide with each blue-print.

Students at J.H. Sissons were evacuated last week as a result of a gas-leak from a faulty nozzle on a boiler heater. Huculak said incidents like a boiler back-draft are unavoidable when dealing with a school that has not had a renovation since its construction in 1975.
