Yellowknife is taking part in a nationwide golf tournament, the RBC PGA Scramble. It’s scheduled for Saturday, July 13.

Teams of four, comprising members 19 years old and older who must have an up-to-date Golf Canada handicap, are eligible to compete. Registration closes on July 3.

The tournament in Yellowknife is a local qualifier. The winners of that event will qualify for the Alberta North regional final, happening at Northern Bear Golf Course in Sherwood Park, Alta., in August. Those winners will qualify for the national final.

“Regional final winners will be awarded the chance to participate and win a national championship at the prestigious Cabot Links Golf Course in Nova Scotia in the fall,” a press release reads.

At select local qualifiers and regional finals, one spot will be awarded to the team with the lowest net score and one spot will be awarded to the team with the lowest gross score. There will also be two guaranteed spots at the national final for all-female teams, the news release states.

The top two finishing teams for Yellowknife’s tournament will also get an Adidas prize package, according to Cole Crawford, the communications person supporting the tournament.
