RCMP investigate purse snatching

RCMP is looking for a suspect after an elderly woman was hurt in a purse snatching on Tuesday evening. Mounties stated in a news release that a male approached the woman from behind while she walked along 53 St. about 6 p.m.

He grabbed her purse and knocked the victim to the ground injuring her leg and hip, police stated. She was taken by ambulance to Stanton Territorial Hospital.

RCMP has not said whether she was admitted. Officers arrived on scene and were told by a witness that the culprit fled on foot towards Bison Hill Apartments. He was wearing a black jacket with a black hood. The purse is described as medium-sized, black leather with a small bible and identification inside.
