RCMP probing 'suspicious' Jeske Crescent fire that damaged snowmobiles

Yellowknife RCMP are investigating a 'suspicious' fire that broke out in the backyard of a Range Lake area-home early Thursday morning.

Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) responded to a report a snowmobile had caught fire near a residence located on Jeske Crescent at 4:45 a.m., a city spokesperson told Yellowknifer.

The fire was put out before it spread to the residence, but some of the "surrounding structures sustained damage from the fire," state police in a news release issued Thursday afternoon.

RCMP were called to scene, where members found four snowmobiles, located in the backyard of the property, with "substantial damage," say RCMP.

Police say no one was injured as a result of the blaze.

Yellowknife RCMP and the NWT fire marshal are probing the fire.
