In a news release RCMP stated they received a call at 8:40 am on Saturday Dec. 22 in the Gitzel area. A male in his 30's was transported to the hospital shortly after.

"RCMP contained a perimeter around the 1400 block of Gitzel Street. Northwest Territories RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Police Dog Services were on scene and are assisting with the investigation," staed the press release.

Walt Humphries, a Gitzel Street resident,  said there was a trail of blood along the sidewalk running from the Dakota Court area ending in a large patch of blood outside a home on Gitzel.

"we just saw the aftermath, there's this trail of blood leading down the sidewalk and sort of was pooled in front of 18 Gitzel," said Humphries. "Whoever had been walking along had been bleeding badly and fallen down (outside the home)."

The RCMP could not be reached to confirm Humphries account however on Monday afternoon the trail of blood could still be seen running between Dakota Court and the property on Gitzel Street with only portions of the sidewalk being cleaned.

The release states the incident was isolated and there is no concern to public safety.
