As the COVID-19 situation continues to change quickly, the territorial government on Monday announced a series of closures to public facilities.
All junior kindergarten to- Grade 12 classes are cancelled until April 14, according to a GNWT safety notice. Further implications of the closures will be discussed between education and health officials.
The Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre in Yellowknife is closed indefinitely as of Monday. Access to NWT Archives will remain open by request.
There are still no positive cases of COVID in NWT, according to an update from the Department of Health and Social Services (HSS) at 4:30 p.m. A total of 143 tests have been conducted on people in the territory.
The risk of acquiring the virus in the NWT remains low, said the department.
COVID tests are being done on anyone with flu-like symptoms and who has travelled outside the NWT in the last 14 days.
Members of the public are asked to call ahead to their clinic or health-care provider if they feel unwell, and not show up at the hospital or clinic.
The GNWT asks the public to check with the HSS site on COVID for health updates on the virus.
