Several firearms stolen from Yellowknife garage, say RCMP

Murder charge laid in Cambridge Bay

Yellowknife RCMP are investigating another theft of multiple firearms in the city after they say a garage was broken into Tuesday evening.

Between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 1:30 a.m. this morning, a detached garage on Haener Drive was broken into, according to a news release issued Wednesday.

A large gun safe, containing multiple firearms, was taken from the garage, say RCMP.

The investigation marks the second probe into gun thefts in the city in as many weeks. Police are continuing to search for Beau Desire-Tesar, a 31-year-old Yellowknife man charged with theft after several guns were stolen from a Rivett Crescent residence on Thanksgiving weekend.

Yellowknife Mounties are calling the latest incident "serious."

RCMP have " utilized Forensic Identification Services, Police Dog Services, and the General Investigation Section to assist in exploring all evidentiary avenues," as the investigation continues, states the news release.
