There are six new cases of Covid-19 in the Northwest Territories.

Public health officials said Wednesday five of the cases are related to the Gahcho Kue Mine outbreak and one is in Yellowknife related to out-of-territory travel.

Three of the five individuals are NWT residents, the other two are non-resident workers.

The five associated with the mine are isolating and “doing well.”

All of the new cases were detected in people already in isolation either at the mine or in Yellowknife.

The outbreak now counts 15 cases, three of them recovered and 12 active.

Chief public health officer declared the outbreak at the mine about 280 kilometres northeast of the capital Feb. 3.
