Power restored in "reasonable" time

It was lights out for residents after a power outage rolled through the city Monday afternoon.
Yellowknifers were without power for nearly half an hour following a sensor failure at Snare Falls hyrdopower plant, said Northwest Territories Power Corporation spokesperson Doug Prendergast.
As a result, power went down at 1 p.m., with the last in-the-dark customer regaining power at 1:26 p.m.
Prendergast said NTCP wants to avoid all outages, regardless of the duration, but called the 26 minute restoration time "reasonable" in its length.

According to Prendergast, Yellowknife's last outage was on Oct. 16 and lasted ten minutes.
Along with Yellowknife, Dettah was also affected by Tuesday's lapse.
