A Yellowknife man has been charged following an assault in a city apartment building earlier this week, RCMP say.

Jerry Rogers, 34, is charged with aggravated assault after police responded to an incident at a Gitzel St. apartment late Wednesday night.

A male victim sustained serious injuries after allegedly being assaulted with a weapon. The man was rushed to Stanton Territorial Hospital where he was treated, according to a release Friday.

Rogers was arrested in the apartment building after being located by RCMP.

He has been remanded into custody until Monday, Feb. 5, according to police.

RCMP continue to investigate the assault.
