Yellowknife RCMP investigating suspicious death

An RCMP spokesperson confirmed the police force is in receipt of a complaint about a man allegedly making harassing comments toward to Yellowknife women on Tuesday evening.

The Yellowknife RCMP are investigating a suspicious death after attending a call at a multiple dwelling residential area off Forrest Drive, Wednesday evening.

The police stated in a news release on Thursday that they were called to the scene in question at 6:50 p.m. where they found the body.

"The death is considered suspicious. RCMP immediately secured the scene," the news release states.

The news release also states that both the Yellowknife RCMP General Investigations Section and Forensic Identification Services are involved in the investigation and that it is led by the NWT RCMP Major Crimes Unit.

The NWT Office of the Chief Coroner is also involved.

"A positive identification of the deceased person is underway," states the release.

RCMP say the investigation is ongoing and further information will be coming.
