Yellowknife RCMP seize "significant" amount of alcohol destined for prohibited community

Yellowknife RCMP seized “a significant” amount of alcohol investigators believe was headed to a prohibited community.

At approximately 2:45 a.m. Sunday, while responding to another call at a Yellowknife hotel on 49th Avenue, RCMP discovered and seized 42 375 ml bottles of liquor and eight cans of beer they believe was destined for Whati.

“The alleged sale of illegal alcohol is very concerning,” Staff Sgt. Yannick Hamel said in a the release. “It is targeting the most vulnerable citizens and harming our communities. It is not a victimless crime.”

The investigation is ongoing and no one has yet been charged.
