Yellowknifers take to the streets for Take Back the Night

Residents, community partners, law enforcement and survivors of sexual violence took to the streets of downtown Yellowknife to Take Back the Night.

A chorus of chants echoed through downtown streets and alleyways as sign-wavers marched for the 23rd annual event, led by the Status of Women Council NWT.

The yearly gathering, which coincides with marches across the globe, aims to raise awareness about sexual violence by reclaiming the streets – and the night.

Status of Women Minister, Caroline Cochrane closed the march with a speech in front of Franklin Avenue's  Greenstone Building.
